Arista Wine Cellars - Who, What (The Why is obvious: we love wine and our customers!)

Wine shop Arista Wine Cellars tastings Edmonds WALocated in the friendliest town on Puget Sound, Arista Wine Cellars of Edmonds opened on September 10th, 1997. In 900 square feet, David and Ruth Arista stocked the shelves with wines of Washington and all around the world. At the time our wine-fairy-Godmother Victoria Trimmer guided us into the new community of winelovers in Edmonds with a kind and generous hand.

Now, in 2011, we are in our 2200 sq foot space on 5th Avenue South, just 3 blocks south of our old location.

Our Staff:

Emmitt - Dog-o-the-shop

Rescued at the age of 4, Emmitt is now 8 years old. Though he started out with some gruff problems toward other dogs, he has learned to wag more and bark less. He loves running with the Edmonds running group on Sunday mornings, fetching stuffed animals and hugs from customers especially under the age of 5.

David Arista: Born in Dallas and attended college in Lubbock. David came to Seattle 27 years ago from Texas, following his heart for a woman named Ruth. (See the next profile!) After working for a local restaurant company for 15 years, he decided to strike out on his own with a wine shop. After spending time in several local communities watching traffic patterns, researching rentable locations and talking to locals, he signed a lease in Edmonds, Washington to open Arista Wine Cellars. Now settled in the great Edmonds community David relaxes by playing golf as much as possible, roots for the Mariners during baseball season and still roots for the Cowboys during football season.

Ruth Hayes Arista: A local native, Ruth grew up on the Eastside, attended college in Chicago, and went to San Antonio after college. While working in a San Antonio restaurant she met David Arista. A couple of years later, David agreed to move back to her home town. When David came up with the idea of opening Arista Wine Cellars, Ruth jumped right in to the adventure. 14 years later the pair are still enjoying the community of Edmonds, and taking care of all their customers and friends.

Roger Clayton: Roger came to Arista Wine Cellars first as an avid wine loving customer, then joined the staff to share his passion for all things wine. He has a deep love of Italian wines and Washington too. Roger manages the monthly wine club for members who are located locally as well as across the U.S. By researching hundreds of wines per month he finds just the right selections. He and his wife Marisa live in Edmonds with Emily the Snauzer and a gorgeous vegetable and flower garden.
